This study aims to analyze how Isaac endured a time of famine and how God sustained him based on the narrative in the Book of Genesis, particularly Genesis 26. The background of this study focuses on the importance of understanding how biblical figures such as Isaac faced major challenges in their lives—namely, the famine that struck the land of Canaan—and how God’s providence became the primary factor in their success. The research questions addressed include: (1) How did Isaac make the decision to remain in Gerar during the famine? (2) What was the role of Isaac’s obedience and faith in experiencing God’s providence? (3) How were God’s blessing and protection manifested in Isaac’s life amid conflicts with the Philistines and the abundance of harvest he received? The research method used in this study is a theological-hermeneutical approach, relying on primary data from the Book of Genesis, particularly Genesis 26, as well as theological literature and biblical commentaries. Data analysis was conducted through textual exposition, analysis of historical context, and examination of theological relevance for the lives of God’s people today. The main findings of this study show that Isaac’s decision to remain in Gerar despite the famine was an act of strong obedience to God’s command. God’s providence is clearly seen in the abundant harvest Isaac received, which exceeded natural limitations. In addition, God provided protection for Isaac amid conflicts with the Philistines, ensuring the security of his life and possessions. This study affirms that God’s providence is not only material in nature but also includes spiritual aspects, such as His presence, which brings peace and wisdom to avoid conflict. In conclusion, the story of Isaac provides an example for God’s people to live in obedience and to rely on Him in every aspect of life, both in times of famine and abundance.
